At the great museums and galleries people stand in line for hours to view artists’ interpretations of the landscape.
Some of these landscapes no longer exist. Others have been preserved because of their unique characteristics, many just because of their beauty. They are not victims of fashion or change for the sake of change but monuments to our vulnerability as humans.
There are landscapes across the world that attract millions of travellers in ever increasing numbers year after year. This love for the land is universal and says to me
I am worthwhile – paint me
After forty years of painting, the edges between what is and what is painted have become blurred, but the pleasure of depicting the great contrasts of Australia remains sharp.
